Data used in the 2002 Prize Money Earnings Database was received from 55 international indoor and outdoor competitions. Meet directors, media/PR contacts, or athlete liaisons were contacted via email, fax and telephone. 22 competitions contacts did not respond to information requests. Below is a breakdown of the competitions and their award structures. Note that with the complex payment structures utilized by many competitions, the categories are not perfect.
